Tip of the Week: Carry on spare batteries

In case you travel with your cell phone, laptop or other electronic devices with lithium batteries, heed the new rules from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Effective Jan. 1, the DOT is not allowing passengers to pack spare lithium batteries in their checked baggage. You can fly with spare batteries, but they must be in your carry-on. For specific details, check out the DOT’s Safe Travel site and the Associated Press story on the new battery regulations.
