On Saturday, June 6th, the FIFA Women’s World Cup will kick into action. Over the course of four weeks, Canada will host one of the world’s most popular sporting events, and welcome twenty-four national soccer teams from across the globe.
Five Spanish speaking countries–Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador–will be competing for this year’s cup. Fútbol is like a religion in Spanish culture, and you can be sure that each of these countries will be proudly supporting their teams.
Even if your students aren’t face-painting fútbol fanatics, learning the game’s vocabulary can be a great way to become familiar with the sport and practice Spanish. To help them with this, download our soccer vocabulary game that we created for your Spanish class.
