We hear all the time from student travelers about how their educational tour changed their life. Last week, we read about it on Twitter. A student from New York posted several tweets about her experiences on her tour to Italy and Greece. We asked her to share her story here:
My name is Lauren Spotkov and I’m from Long Island, New York. I recently traveled to Italy and Greece with my school through EF Tours. The trip was probably one of the greatest experiences of my life. I’m 15 years old, and I really wasn’t given that much of an opportunity to travel, so this was a dream come true.
When we first got to Europe, we stayed in Italy for a few days. We visited Rome and Pompeii; both cities were full of culture, and we really got to learn about the sites. We took a night ferry to Greece after visiting Pompeii. Greece was beautiful. As soon as we got there, we traveled to Olympia. It was great to see where the first Olympics took place! The cities we visited, besides Olympia, were Tolo, Mycenae, Athens and Delphi. The tours were amazing and very educational. My favorite city was the optional excursion to Delphi! I’m so glad I went; it was great to see the Temple of Apollo and the center of the world!
I love social studies, and I really learned more than I could ever image on this trip! The trip was incredible. I got to see parts of the world I never imaged. I got taken out of my comfort zone, and opened my eyes to the world. I made so many new friends from my school and met so many teachers that I wouldn’t have known otherwise. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to other high school students. This trip changed my life, and it could change yours…if you let it.
If you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow @EFtours and let us know about your travel experiences.
