High school French and Spanish teacher Carole Miller truly has seen the world with EF. She has traveled everywhere from Australia to Iceland on EF tours and teacher convention tours. After 30 years of teaching at four school districts in Pennsylvania, Carole retired. However, she’s still traveling the world with EF—now with adults.
Carole (pictured with her husband, Jack) shared her thoughts with us about travel's impact on her students, attending teacher convention tours and the value of EF's Global Rewards:
What inspired you to begin traveling abroad with students?
Since foreign languages lend themselves to "seeing and doing" outside of the United
States, I wished for my students to be immersed and enjoy the
educational, cultural, historical and aesthetic experience of actually
being there and tucked into the real atmosphere.
Why do you think it is important for students to travel on an educational tour?
Students
must broaden their intellectual, emotional, cultural, spiritual and
mental horizons. Traveling on EF tours does provide that and also
wonderful sensory experiences.
What kind of an effect does traveling abroad have on your students?
They do not return the same person as when they left!
You've traveled on convention before. What do you most enjoy about traveling on EF Teacher Convention Tours?
The
EF staff is awesome! They went beyond any expectations as to planning
tours, getting us organized and allowing for sundry individual
differences of opinions and desires. They possess a "can do" attitude
and are overflowing with kindness and caring. Truly, they are like
family.
Do you have a favorite story or memory from tour or convention?
Memories
of many conventions will always be a part of me and live in my heart.
However, I loved the visit to Iceland as part of our EF convention
this past summer. The Super Jeep safari, riding the descendants of
horses brought to Iceland by the Vikings, soaking in the geothermal
waters of the Blue Lagoon and visiting the Ice Bar after a delicious
meal provided by EF will be my favorite memories. They are highlighted
and etched in my brain.
Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
EF
tours are the way to go. Everything is done for you and ready when you
begin the tours. No time is wasted, itineraries are busy, but free time
is built in and the company delivers "the goods" it promised at a
fabulous price. I am a huge fan and travel exclusively with EF. The
Global Reward Points are truly GOLD! I use them as fast as I earn them
every other year, but only for EF conventions. They really stretch and
provide so much more than other rewards.
