Do you know any outstanding global citizens? Do you know any high school sophomores or juniors who can write compelling essays? Do those students want to travel the world this summer?
Then nominate them for EF's Global Citizen Awards contest.
Each student must write an essay (not to exceed 1,500 words) on the following topic:
Describe how a shared experience with someone from another cultural background influenced both
of you as global citizens.
All entries must be postmarked by February 28, 2008.
EF will judge the essays based on sincerity, maturity, clarity and
overall quality of thought demonstrated in the essay. And we will
select 12 winners (10 from the United States and two from Canada), who
will travel together on a 10-day, expenses-paid international trip from
EF Educational Tours. Each winner will also receive an iPod (courtesy of Apple).
Last year's Global Citizens tour was a huge success. Students from all over North America traveled to New York City, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Munich and Berlin. You can meet last year's winners and read about their experiences in their Global Citizen iStory.
Applicants must be current sophomores or juniors in high school and must be nominated by their schools, and schools may nominate more than one student. For more information, check out our Global Citizen Awards page, and you can download the eligibility requirements and nomination form. If you have any additional questions, you can email globalcitizen@ef.com.
